The challenge
Working with North Devon Coast AONB to create a signage suite suitable for the exposed locations along the coast path. Taking into consideration not only the design but also the logistics for the team installing the signs in the various locations. Conveying key historical information relating to the sites in an engaging way so as to appeal to a wide range of ages. From lecterns, with the scope for more text and images, to smaller post mounted signs
The response
Taking text content and images from historic archives, photographs and digital illustrations to create an eyecatching format for the signage to follow – across lecterns and post mounted signs. Ensuring that colours used contrasted with the background landscape, which changes year round. Signage also included the use of NFC tags in order to provide members of the public with more information
The outcome
Delivery to the client of a series of robust and durable signs that help walkers engage with the historic nature of the key Heritage Sites on the North Devon Coast.
